TripleOKLaw LLP is excited to announce the appointment of Marysheila Onyango-Oduor, FCIArb as the firm’s new Managing Partner. After 23 years in practice, Marysheila takes the helm, becoming the firm’s first female managing partner, following six successful years as Deputy Managing Partner.
Marysheila is a respected dispute resolution lawyer and a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, recognised as the best student in the 2023 accelerated fellowship class. Her expertise spans labour law, public procurement, judicial review, and commercial law, making her a trusted advisor to multinationals, blue-chip companies, and large state corporations in Kenya.
Her leadership at TripleOKLaw has been marked by empathy and excellence, particularly in driving the firm’s cultural transformation through initiatives focused on diversity, inclusivity, and employee well-being. Marysheila is notably a passionate advocate for women in the workplace, championing initiatives such as flexible return-to-work policies for new mothers and mental health support for staff.
Marysheila has earned widespread recognition from peers for her exceptional contributions to the legal profession, particularly in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, where she played a key role in training Kenyan Bar members on the virtual court system. In recognition of this impactful work, she was awarded the Community Service Award at the Nairobi Legal Awards.
With a proven track record of handling high-profile legal matters and complex disputes, has successfully represented government clients and multinational organisations in cases valued in the hundreds of millions of shillings. She is also an active member of several judicial committees focused on family and children’s issues, including her longstanding role on the National Council on the Administration of Justice Taskforce on Children’s Matters since 2016. Additionally, she serves as a member of the High Court (Family Division) Bar-Bench Committee and the Convenor of the Chief Magistrates Court’s (Children Division) Bar-Bench Committee. Marysheila is also a frequent speaker at legal forums and regularly contributes to policy discussions and publications on family law, with a particular focus on advancing children’s justice.”
She succeeds John M. Ohaga, SC, C.Arb, FCIArb, one of the firm’s founding partners, who has led the firm since its inception in 2002. Under John’s leadership, the firm’s staff grew threefold and expanded from two to seven practice areas. John also spearheaded the firm’s entry into the global Meritas Law Firms network in 2014, solidifying the firm’s cross-border legal services offering. John will now transition to Senior Partner, focusing on mentorship and strengthening client relationships.
